An early morning stroll along a trail or simply ambling around your cottage will produce a good variety of karoo species.

Scan the Kloof's for Verraux's Eagles hunting dassies.

On the South-facing higher slopes listen out for the Grey-winged Francolins and Ground Woodpecker.

A walk into the water kloof in the vicinity of proteas may also yield Protea Seed-Eaters in early summer.

Layard's Tit-Babblers, Fairy Flycatcher and Mountain Wheatears can be found on the more arid hills along the leopard trail.
